The oldest company in the world is Kongō Gumi, from Japan. Kongō Gumi was founded in 578 and operated for more than 1,400 years as an independent business before becoming a subsidiary of Takamatsu Kensetsu in 2006. It continues to operate today, specializing in the construction, maintenance and repair of Buddhist temples, using traditional tools and techniques passed down from its founder.
